Go Green Testimonials

Since Go Green launched in February 2015 we have had over 1700 attendees at our events held in varied locations across the region- here you can read about how they have benefited from attending Go Green events and taking part in the programme.

"I attended the Go Green ‘Happy and Healthy’ business breakfast in May 2015 as a stall holder to promote my business 'Green Tomato Kitchen'. The event helped me to target exactly the kind of businesses, organisations and individuals that I wish to work with. I had so many positive conversations at the event that I felt sure it would lead directly to new business, and indeed I had three bookings from new clients I had met at the event within a week or two. On a personal level, I really enjoyed the event as well. It was great to tap into the energy of so many people and organisations taking really positive steps in Bristol.”

Jo-Anne Lovemore, Green Tomato Kitchen

"Many thanks indeed for an excellent evening, a great venue and good to meet a number of very interesting people. The work you do with Go Green really does make you stand out as a top Bristol sustainability initiative."

Tim Wilson, formerly of Bristol Zoo Gardens

“As part of the Travelwest Business Engagement work in Bristol, we were excited to be part of the Go Green Business Breakfast to talk about how businesses in Bristol can work with Bristol City Council and Go Green to progress and improve their sustainability. We so enjoyed being in a room of like-minded businesses all with the same aim and motivation to be inspired to try something new. We are hoping to help a number of those businesses access the Local Sustainable Transport Fund and benefit from the Go Green principles.”

Sara Sloman, Business Engagement Manager, Local Sustainable Transport Fund

"I’d just like to say thank you organising such an interesting and useful carbon offsetting workshop this morning. The range of topics and the level of detail was just right for what we wanted and hoped for. And the presenters were very knowledgeable. I’m sure what we learnt will speed up Resource Futures towards its goal of becoming carbon neutral."

Stuart Woodham, Consultant, Resource Futures

“We met people from many different businesses and backgrounds. At traditional networking events delegates may have found it difficult to understand the value of what we offer, but at this Go Green event everyone was very open to our proposition. Attendees in general were highly motivated to achieve green goals and were ready and willing to introduce our service into their businesses where possible.”

Jeremy Field, Velopost

"We hosted the Go Green event in May 2015 which was a really great opportunity for the organisation to open it’s doors to other sustainably focused businesses within the area. The team at Go Green were a pleasure to work with, they were really organised and on-top of details that make events run wonderfully smoothly!”

Trish Brown, St George's Bristol

"The Go Green tool will be extremely useful in helping us improve our organisation’s environmental action plan, thank you. Excellent launch event with a clear overview of the new tool and chance to make some useful connections across a range of sectors."

Christine Davis, Centre Manager The Architecture Centre

The Go Green Tool enables organisations of all sizes and from all sectors to access a free, bespoke Action Plan that signposts them to resources and initiatives across the region and beyond to help them improve their green credentials in the five key Go Green areas. Below hear from our Do It and Prove It members who have created their Action Plans and how the plans have benefited their organisation.

“The Go Green Tool compliments our ISO 14001 accreditation by helping us focus on areas of our business that are not all about Environmental Systems, for example our people and how we interact with the local community. The tool is very easy to use and by creating an Action Plan we can involve other stakeholders within our business to identify, action and deliver positive benefits for our staff, our customers, our suppliers and enhance our business profitability.”

Kevin Pembroke, Sales and Marketing Director, Latcham Direct

"The Bristol has been committed to going Green for several years and in 2015 wanted to make our commitment tangible and have impactful goals and measured achievements. Joining Go Green and becoming a “Prove it” member has helped us achieve our goals and make continual improvements. The Go Green action plan has been a very helpful tool. The Bristol has achieved Silver in the Green Tourism Business Scheme Award and GOLD Trip Advisor Green Leader program, these prestigious awards have been the credit to the hotels commitment to Green and the pool of resource available in Bristol due to Go Green. We are proud to host the Go Green Awards at The Bristol on 18th February, the event is a great opportunity to celebrate the city's achievements and share success stories."

Shelby King, The Bristol hotel

"We found that our Go Green membership has been beneficial for our business within the community of Bristol. The composition of our action plan inspired us to implement small changes to our office, such as the introduction of colourful recycling bins, in addition to bigger projects such as the installation of a water cooler to help reduce our loss and spend on water. Our Go Green membership has also motivated our ‘bring a plant to work scheme’. The Go Green workshops that we have attended have provided us with knowledge and insight into sustainability within the city."

Aelliey Kelly, ESOS Energy Ltd

"We feel that the College has benefited from Go Green in a number of ways by helping to focus our strategy and action plan, allowing us to communicate clearly to our stakeholders, accessing valuable networking events, and sharing best practice and collaboration with like-minded local businesses. I would also emphasise the work put in by the Go Green team, their creativity, hard work and enthusiasm that has helped make Bristol 2015 a success to date.”

Simon Williams, City of Bristol College

The Go Green Awards were held in February 2016 to recognise what had been achieved by organisations in 2015. Read on to hear from some of the winners and sponsors!

"Arkbound was delighted to win a Go Green Award after putting in place initiatives to reduce our travel and transport related carbon emissions. As a small social enterprise, receiving recognition for our efforts in this area, which we took on without any financial support, was a massive boost to morale. It is also a reminder that being more environmentally friendly - even reaching a state of carbon neutrality - is not just to be undertaken by large corporations and Government but something we all can play a part in."

Stephen Jackley, Arkbound, Winner of Best Newcomer, Travel & Transport

"We were delighted to win a category at the Go Green 2016 Awards. We've tried to build sustainability into everything that we do: sourcing, energy use, staff travel, well-being. And of course promoting cycling is our main purpose as a business. It's great to be recognised for that, and hopefully we can illustrate that green initiatives don't have to be add-ons; they can be right at the heart of the way a company operates."

Rob Wall, Roll for the Soul, winner of Bristol's Best Green Small Business - FSB member

"We are delighted at The Bristol to be acknowledged for our work on the Go Green action plan in both winning the Happy and Healthy Award and special recognition in Energy and Efficiency. Building a sustainable hotel has become a way of life over the past 18 months, we have had to make capital investments, change our behaviours and look at our procedures across the hotel. The success of action plans have been a credit to the commitment and hard work of the Green team communicating change and involving others and the hotel team for making Green part of our culture and values of the hotel.”

Shelby King, Human Resources Manager, The Bristol hotel, Winner of Best Newcomer Happy & Healthy

"A huge thank you to everyone that made the Go Green Awards so successful, it was a pleasure to be a sponsor at such a special event. It was extraordinary to have so many like-minded individuals in the same room, pushing the boundaries for positive change. Almeda have benefitted greatly from opportunities created at the event, such as partnering with other businesses that share our ethos and promoting our brand against values that directly reflect our own."

Louise Coles, Almeda Facilities Ltd, generous sponsors of the hotly contested Driving Force award
