Here are some hints and tips on creating your Go Green Action Plan using the online tool
The tool is easy to use and you do not require any environmental expertise to use it.
"It was great to realise how much stuff we already do as a business to reduce our environmental impact and the tool really helped to highlight those areas where we can – and will – do more.”
You do not need to enter data such as energy meter readings etc when you create the action plan, so you do not need to spend time collecting this information before you sign up to use the Go Green Tool
You can log in and out of the tool at any time and create your action plan in sections
You can delete actions that are not relevant or realistic for you to complete in 12-15 months
You can add your own bespoke actions and edit the suggested actions to make them more relevant to you
You can prioritize your actions
Want to collaborate with other staff members?
To create your plan, a designated staff member can select all the actions and create an action plan that includes everything.
Then select the SHARE tab that appears at the bottom of the page when the action plan is created which enables you to share with your plan others in your organisation. Collaboratively you can then decide which actions you wish to keep and which you wish to delete. A designated staff member then can log back into the tool and delete or edit specific actions.
When entering evidence for completed actions we suggest the following:
Short text in the evidence box is best because it appears on the final action plan
URL links to internal or external blog posts that describe what you have done which may include photographic evidence
Descriptions with sufficient detail so that we can follow them up if necessary such as ‘when we were disposing of waste computer equipment in July 2014 we used Byteback to ensure our waste was re-used and we store a waste note to prove this‘ or ‘we have a one page policy outlining our sustainable procurement commitments on our intranet, we train all new employees about this and review the policy in our yearly management review meetings‘
URL link to your online policies such as environmental statement

Don’t just take our word for how useful the tool is:
“Using the online tool to create an action plan for Copper was very straightforward and easy to do. It was great to realise how much stuff we already do as a business to reduce our environmental impact and the tool really helped to highlight those areas where we can – and will – do more. The links to case studies, organisations and schemes which can help along the way are also very useful.” Becky Borrow, Head of Operations, Copper Consultancy
